Each year, the Firehouse Brewing Co., the oldest operating brewery in the state of South Dakota, produces around 40 unique beer styles. All Firehouse beers are made in-house using a brewing process that takes approximately 7 hours, excluding fermentation. We use a 10-barrel system that takes between 350-620 pounds of grain and 4-19 pounds of hops to make a typical batch. Most sugars that are used for fermentation are derived from barley, however, we occasionally use adjunct ingredients for our specialty and seasonal beers. Over the years, we have infused our beer with honey, spruce tips, orange zest, cacao, orange zest, mint, and ginger – just to name a few! To help support our local community, any leftover grain is used to feed animals at local farms.
