A cell phone ringing incessantly in a quiet café. A stranger at the next table who has had enough. A dead man with a lot of loose ends. So begins this wildly imaginative new comedy about how we memorialize the dead and how that remembering
changes us. It is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption and the need to connect in a technologically obsessed world – all the while exploring the paradox of modern technology’s ability to both unite and isolate people in the digital age.
The Good Doctor, By Neil Simon
Directed By: Thomas Golden
Rehearses: Jan 17 – Feb 15
Performs: Feb 16 – Mar 10
Cast Requirements: 3 Men, 3 Women (alternative casting possible)
Audition: Cold Reading, prepared monologues welcome
Charming, hilarious, sad and touching – this comedy centers around a writer who speaks to the audience and shares his writing, presenting them with a plethora of curious and unusual scenes: some from his family and friends and others from his own life experiences. Throughout the series of short plays, the audience meets a variety of characters, all of whom are immediately relatable and strikingly human. The stories are witty, the portraits affectionate, the humor infectious and the fun unending.
